How to travel to Nepal
Most visitors fly into Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu). You can also enter by land from India or China at designated crossings. Get your passport in order, decide the correct visa type, complete the Nepal visa on arrival online form if you are a tourist, and arrange the first nights of accommodation.
Step-by-step for a typical tourist
- Check that your passport is valid for at least six months and has blank pages.
- Confirm you are not on Nepal’s restricted-nationality list.
- Book flights and a first hotel or host address for the arrival form.
- Fill the official online visa/arrival form and save the confirmation.
- Carry USD for Nepal visa cost, plus photos if currently required.
- After arrival, keep your visa dates. Apply for an extension in Nepal if you will stay longer.
